One hundred years after Elise Stewart dies at Lakeview Academy, her journal is found by Halle. It’s not just Elise’s words that seem to haunt Halle…Elise herself seems to be making an appearance. Can Halle and her friend, Leigh, right an old wrong and put Elise’s troubled spirit to rest? Or will Halle be haunted by Elise’s whispers for as long as she’s at school?
“Whisper” is a good solid YA combination of mystery, paranormal and romance. While Leigh and Halle work to solve this mystery, they also struggle with all the normal issues of friends, popularity, boys and studies. Well-written, with a good solid set of characters, “Whisper” will engage readers from the beginning. “Whisper” provides excellent reading for strong middle grade readers and up. I found it to be a very enjoyable read, fresh and entertaining despite the predictable elements and just generally a fun book to read.
If you’re looking for a book for a younger reader and want something fresh and engaging that mixes mystery with romance and a touch of paranormal, then “Whisper” may be just what you’re looking for!
