“Prepared for a Purpose” is the Inspiring Story of One Woman Caught in a Crisis

51OTBPT+XML__SL160_Atoinette Tuff had been asked to cover for the receptionist at McNair Elementary School. Just moments before, she had received a devastating personal phone call at her desk. Pulling herself together, she took her place at the front desk never expecting that the next person through the door would be an armed gunman. In this memoir, Antoinette recounts not just the events that unfolded at McNair but the personal story of what had transpired in her own life that helped her meet the gunman with compassion and kindness. Ever humble, Antoinette is quick to point out that the major difference between this standoff and the many tragedies that have occurred is that, in her words, “Our gunman came in talking, not shooting.”
Touchingly honest, “Prepared for a Purpose” tells Antoinette’s own story of overcoming despair in her personal life which helped her to speak to the desperate man holding a school hostage. Her story is touching and compelling and a good reminder that all that comes to us in life, good or bad, can be useful in the right moment. Luckily, Antoinette was able to use what she’d learned in a tough moment and the results were a positive outcome for an entire school full of frightened children and teachers.
